Airlines share affordable Covid testing deals for overseas travellers

Many travellers are calling for cheaper PCR tests to make overseas holidays more affordable.

In many cases, the costs of various checks for a family outstrip the price of a holiday, making a trip abroad unaffordable.

PCR tests, which are still needed before travel to many destinations and on return to the UK for all passengers, have tumbled in price – but still remain very costly in some cases.

Travellers can still expect to fork out anything from £45 to £200 for a test package.

Some travel firms are already offering customers special testing deals with the UK’s biggest tour operator TUI subsidising costs for holidaymakers with tests from £20 to £60.

It is advisable to check the entry requirements of each individual destination as places have different rules when it comes to tests and quarantines.

However, Britons must undertake a lateral flow or rapid antigen test before travelling home plus a separate PCR test on day two or day eight depending on the destination’s green or amber list category.

While some package holidaymakers are able to secure a cut-price test through a tour operator, many UK tourists travel independently. To find UK Government accredited testing firms, go the the ‘ list of providers ‘ page of the gov.uk website.

High Street chemists Boots and Superdrug also offer testing facilities in selected stores by appointment.
