Latest Foreign Office travel advice for Turkey, Portugal, Spain, and more
The first flights have begun to leave for Portugal amidst the latest easing of travel restrictions on Monday, May 17.
The first day of legal travel abroad has seen a number of people getting their bags packed and heading off for beach holidays.
Travel companies have been reporting a surge in demand for trips to Portugal after the Government put the country on its green list for travel.
Only a dozen countries and territories are on the green list but most are either remote islands or do not currently allow UK tourists to enter, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Popular holiday destinations such as Spain, France, Italy, and Greece are on the ‘amber list’.

The Portuguese government announced on May 14 that non-essential travel can resume from the UK from May 17.
Nonetheless, entry restrictions and requirements will continue to apply for travel to Portugal.
Entry to Portugal includes the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores.
All passengers, excluding children up to the age of two, travelling to or through Portugal in transit, must show a negative RT-PCR test result for SARS/COVID-19 at the time of boarding.
The test must have been taken within 72 hours of departure.
Your airline is likely to deny boarding if you cannot provide this at check-in.
All passengers travelling to Portugal will be subject to health screening on arrival.
If your temperature is 38C or over or you show signs of being unwell, you may be required to take a further RT-PCR COVID-19 test and remain at the airport until you receive your test result.
The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic Islands but excluding the Canary Islands, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
Entry restrictions and testing requirements continue to apply for travel to Spain.
Only citizens and legal residents of the European Union, Schengen states, Andorra, Monaco, The Vatican (Holy See); and San Marino, and those who can demonstrate through documentary evidence an essential need to enter Spain, will be granted passage under current travel restrictions.
The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the whole of France based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
Arrivals from the UK do not need to justify an essential reason to enter France.
This applies to all air, car, ferry and train passengers.
All other measures, detailed below, are in place for those travelling from the UK.

The French government strongly advises limiting international travel to a minimum.
All travellers from the UK, including children aged 11 and above, will need to present a negative PCR COVID-19 test result, carried out less than 72 hours before departure.
Passengers arriving in France from the UK will also be required to self-isolate for seven days on arrival, before taking another PCR test.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel to Greece, except for the islands of Rhodes, Kos, Zakynthos, Corfu and Crete, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
UK nationals are permitted to enter Greece if they are a permanent resident in the UK, Greece, another EU/EFA state, or in one of the following countries; Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, Rwanda, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Russian Federation, United States, Serbia and Israel.
Anyone travelling to Greece must comply with the Greek authorities’ requirements, including testing before travel and completion of a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) before you travel (both into and out of Greece).

The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the whole of the United Arab Emirates based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
Residents, tourists and visitors travelling from or through the UK and arriving in Dubai and Abu Dhabi must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test which was taken no more than 72 hours before departure and present the certificate at check in.
Travellers arriving in Abu Dhabi will also be required to undertake a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival.
Travellers arriving in Dubai may be required to undertake a further COVID-19 PCR test on arrival and will have to isolate pending the result of the COVID-19 PCR test.
The FCDO advise against all travel to areas within 10 km of the border with Syria, except the city of Kilis.
The FCDO advise against all but essential travel to all other areas of Sirnak, Kilis (including Kilis city) and Hatay provinces, the provinces of Diyarbakir, Tunceli and Hakkari and the whole of Turkey based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
From 4am on May 12, all direct flights from Turkey to England were prohibited.
