Hartlepool urged ‘to join us to make it a super summer for our most in-need’

Hartlepool Holiday Fun is led by Hartlepool Borough Council using Government funding and is aimed at children who receive benefits-related free school meals although all school-age children can take part in the activity element of the programme.

The project was a great success when it was launched for Easter and now organisations and businesses are being invited to join forces for the summer holidays.

Groups taking part will receive funding to provide free holiday activities and nutritious meals for eligible children and young people for at least four hours per day and four days per week over a four-week period.

Hartlepool urged 'to join us to make it a super summer for our most in-need'

The deadline for joining the Hartlepool healthy food holiday project has been extended.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications has now been extended to 5pm on Friday, June 18.

Sally Robinson, the council’s director of children’s and joint commissioning services, said: ““Organisations taking part in Hartlepool Holiday Fun play a vital role in helping ensure that children and young people in our most vulnerable families don’t go hungry and all our children can enjoy exciting, fun activities which keep them stimulated and support their learning and development.

“Thank you to the organisations and businesses which have joined up so far.

“But to make this summer’s event a real success we still need more to come on board, so please get in touch.”
