Tamworth Borough Council appointed Sutcliffe Play, one of the UK’s leading designers of children’s playground equipment, to transform Tinkers Green park, and confirmed yesterday (Friday): “The new play area at Tinkers Green is NOW OPEN!

“Mayor of Tamworth, Cllr Michael Oates, cut the ribbon this afternoon to the brand-new play area – a playground which caters to a varied age range and ability. The Mayor, Cllr Oates, said: “I was honoured to open the new play area at Tinkers Green alongside Leader of the Council, Cllr Jeremy Oates and Cabinet member for Housing, Cllr Alex Farrell. This playground is part of a wider regeneration of the area and certainly looks like a lot of fun for children of all ages!”

Cllr Robert Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We know how much the residents and families from Tinkers Green were looking forward to the opening of this brand-new play area.

“The new design from Sutcliffe Play has something to offer all children. We also wanted to make as much use of the space as possible and the layout packs in swings, slides, climbing frames and other multi-use equipment, so more children can enjoy the park at one time.”

The focal point of the new children’s play area is the Playzone Tri Climber, a robust, compact play unit for the junior age range which offers three differing obstacle-like routes, including a slide, fireman’s pole and a hooped climber.

This multi ability and varied age range audience, makes this a sought after climbing multi-unit for all users to enjoy.

Younger children can also enjoy Sutcliffe Play’s Minitown Chalet. With five activities on one tower unit it is a compact multi-play unit that offers a stainless-steel slide, pogo climb and spinning windmill amongst other features.

Also included are popular playground structures including swings and see-saws, offering children choice and variation and the chance to play together.

Andy Love, sales and marketing director at Sutcliffe Play, said: “The transformation of this playground will be a fantastic addition to the residents of this area.

“We tailored the playground design based on the needs and requirements of the client and we believe our proposal captures the overall expectations.”
