Save the Dates for Christmas/Holiday fun in 2021

December is almost here. That means the biggest weekend for holiday celebrations is less than two weeks away.

This year, most of Southborough’s annual holiday traditions are back. So, I’m putting together a big list of Save-the-Dates. These are just events related to the holidays (including holiday shopping). 

December 2021 

Reindeer Quest (Daily in December, Sunrise to Sunset) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Free self-guided program. Grab your snow boots and get the family outside to discover our elusive herd of wooden reindeer found throughout the farm trails! See how many you can find and leave a bell around each one’s neck. Girl Scout Holiday Sing-along (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Community House Lawn: Event for all families in Southborough with Girl Scouts Kick off your holiday season with an old-fashioned holiday sing-along with some modern touches. Participants are encouraged to bring a gift donation for Just Because.

Saturday, December 4, 2021 

Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St Anne’s Church Parish Hall, 20 Boston Road: An annual Southborough tradition. Boy Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping for family members without parents’ prying eyes. While waiting, adults can enjoy a bake sale and coffee. Christmas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main St: Admission is free. Featuring the White Elephant, jewelry, toy, and craft sales, a silent auction, Games of Chance, live music, basket raffle, bake sale, the annual Bargain Box bag sale, and a Kids’ Activity Area. From 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, the Café will sell lunch. For details, see dedicated post.

Drop-in Holiday Tree Ornaments (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Instead of a party this year, the Library will be offering drop-in hours over several days for kids to come in and make ornaments to bring home, give as gifts or hang on the library holiday tree. (No refreshments.)

Santa Day (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s field and Community House: See Santa arrive in his helicopter and land on St. Mark’s Field. Then join him and Southborough Kindergroup at the Community House. Enjoy ornament making, refreshments, caroler and character visits and more before kids share their wishes with Santa while posing for a picture. For details, see dedicated post.

“JOY!” WCC Holiday Show (2:00 – 3:30 pm) @ Mill Pond School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus (including Southborough members) will perform its annual Christmas Holiday Show. There’s usually some dancing and skits, plus a special visitor. $12 Adult $10 Senior/Children.

Holiday Tree Lighting (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Chestnut Hill Farm celebrates the season with its free annual tree lighting. Enjoy live music, check out the Solstice StoryWalk, wish our beloved goats and sheep a happy holidays, make a craft, nosh on delicious food, and sip on hot cider or hot chocolate. Saturday, December 11, 2021

Art and Gift Sale (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ 49 Lynbrook Road (L’Abri Fellowship) and 10 Chestnut Hill Road (The Stable): Local artisans and craftspeople will be selling holiday gifts. This event is free and open to the public. Fine art, photography, prints, chocolate, jewelry, herbal care, ceramics, clothing, vanilla, decorations, books, and more.

NACC’s Holly Jolly Holidays (3:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School Auditorium: The Northborough Area ​Community Chorus (including Southborough members) will perform its annual Christmas Holiday Show. Tickets from any Chorus Member or at the door $5.

Sunday, December 19, 2021

AVM Messiah Sing (3:30 pm) @ First Church, Marlborough: Assabet Valley Mastersingers regional chorus (including Southborough members) will perform the Christmas portion of Handel’s oratorio and the “Hallelujah Chorus” with audience participation and organ accompaniment. Masks are required with social distancing by attendee unit. (Free, suggested donation $10.)

Tuesday, December 21, 2021

ARHS Holiday Concert (7:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School Auditorium: The school’s annual Christmas concert traditionally brings together both instrumental and vocal groups. Stay tuned for details on this year’s event.

 
Holiday break – December 23, 2021 – January 2, 2022

Public Schools of Southborough and Northborough start the winter break with an early dismissal on Wednesday, December 22nd. School resumes on January 3rd.
