World Series Parade Means No School For Cobb, Marietta Students, Teachers Friday

COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb and Marietta students and teachers have something even more to celebrate this week, besides the Atlanta Braves’ World Series win.

Cobb County School District and Marietta City Schools officials gave the Friday workday and school day the chop. All schools will be closed Friday for a student and teacher holiday to celebrate the Braves bringing home the championship, the district announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Braves — clinching the World Series title for the first time in 26 years late Tuesday night — announced a parade scheduled for Friday, and Cobb County will house the second phase of the parade route and the post-parade concert.

“The Atlanta Braves parade and celebratory events will occur in Cobb County during the day and this holiday will also keep anticipated high traffic, throughout Cobb County, as manageable as possible for everyone who lives in Cobb,” CCSD said in a news release.

After-school program (ASP) will not be available and Friday night athletic activities will remain as scheduled in both districts.
