Omicron: 8 mn Italians cancel holiday bookings

(ANSA) – ROME, DEC 20 – Around 16% of the Italian population, some eight million people, have cancelled bookings for a trip over the Christmas/New Year holidays following the arrival of the new, highly contagious Omicron variant of COVID-19, according to a study by the Demoskopika market-research agency.
    Nevertheless, over half of the population, 52%, has decided to take a trip and 24% have already booked, the study said.
    It added that nine out of 10 of the people going on holiday were heading to Italian destinations. (ANSA).
