The villages named the top 10 UK holiday destinations for 2022

If you fancy a holiday a bit closer to home next year, there are a number of destinations in the UK that are incredibly popular.

With the coronavirus pandemic scuppering holidays abroad, many of us have swapped foreign holidays for UK destinations.

But where are the best UK destinations?

: What’s on news across Essex.

According to new research by Sykes Holiday Cottages, Whitby, on the North Yorkshire coast, is the best place for a ‘staycation’ in 2022, according to Chronicle Live.

The beautiful town of Whitby is famed for quirky narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey.

There’s also the fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay, the unspoilt sandy beaches of Sandsend and Runswick Bay, the staggering views from the clifftops at Ravenscar, and the popular seaside resorts of Saltburn and Redcar.

Not only that but there are also connections to Captain Cook and Dracula there – and it’s just under four hours drive from Essex.

But for those who do not fancy a getaway in Whitby, Scarborough has been named as the second-best option in the UK by Sykes Holiday Cottages.
