Adventure Tours UK aims to increase sales via travel agents

North Wales-based operator Adventure Tours UK is urging agents to get in touch about distribution as it aims to increase its trade sales.

Established in 2018, the company offers small group multi-activity holidays, guided hiking, wild wellness retreats and trail running breaks in Wales.

It also features tailor-made adventure holidays and corporate group events.

Claire Copeman, co-founder of Adventure Tours UK, said the operator already works with several agents and offers commission, along with brochures, images and social links.

It has sold holidays via Travel Counsellors since the beginning of 2021.

“We would love to grow our agent partnerships further,” she said.

“Agents have a good, long-term relationship with their clients. They understand their clients and what they like – we want to tap into that relationship.

“Our trips are unique, so to have agents who understand what we do and what clients want is ideal.

“As well as holidays, we offer corporate events and we can support agents to develop an itinerary for a networking event, for example.”

Adventure Tours UK was initially created to cater to inbound travellers but when the pandemic hit, the firm had to pivot quickly to become a domestic operator.

Copeman has also seen sustainable tourism issues become more prominent over the course of the Covid-19 crisis.

“People have changed their perception of holidays – it used to be how far can you go on a plane but Covid has forced us to look closer to home,” she said.

“You do not have to travel thousands of miles away. Some people come to us in Denbighshire from 1.5 hours away for our running camps and say the landscape is mind blowing.

“More people are making sustainable choices and they do not necessarily need to jump on a plane.”

She also highlighted how much investment has taken place in infrastructure in north Wales, which it is now described as the ‘adventure capital’ of Europe.

“It offers mountain biking, climbing, hiking and cycling and we are lucky to have every type of landscape, from mountains to hills, rivers and coast,” she said.

Most clients are active professionals aged 35-45 but the firm has branched out to offer adventure holidays in 2022 for families with kids aged over 14.

Other recent developments include an initiative to create a new Welsh woodland within Moel Famau Country Park, in partnership with the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Adventure Tours UK is creating a new Welsh woodland within Moel Famau Country Park, in partnership with the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

As a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, Adventure Tours UK is committed to measuring and reducing its carbon footprint.

The carbon that cannot yet be avoided will be offset through the creation of Ty’n-y-Pistyll, a designated two-acre area within the country park.

The first 185 native trees were planted during National Tree Week (November 27-December 5, 2021).

Copeman said one tree will planted for every guest that travels with Adventure Tours UK, to add to the woodland’s diversity.

Also in November, Copeman was named Wales Start-Up Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

She said agents interested in finding out more about the operator can contact Adventure Tours UK via its website.
