Echo: Marvel star stuns fans with blockbuster reveal

Echo’s Alaqua Cox has Marvel fans even more excited about the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off.

It’s all happening for Echo. The upcoming Marvel show has been at the center of a lot of rumors in recent weeks, with plenty of speculation about who just might show up in the Disney Plus series, and now we have another reason to be talking about it: The show is commencing production.

Before going on, though, let’s backtrack a little bit. For anyone unaware, Echo is a spin-off of Hawkeye and will star Alaqua Cox, who reprises her role as Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s holiday adventure series.

It’s been in development for some time now, but it’s become a lot more tangible in recent months given the character’s debut (and the rumors regarding the show’s ties to other Marvel characters).

Speaking of tangible, we have now received our most exciting update about the show yet, and it comes from none other than the star herself.

Marvel’s Echo enters production

As of today, Thursday April 21, Echo will commence production. This was confirmed when star Alaqua Cox took to Instagram on Wednesday to post the beautiful flowers that Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs sent her to celebrate the start of filming.

Sharing the picture on her story, Cox added:

“@kdeveryjacobs decided to surprise me with these beautiful flowers before the first day of filming tomorrow.”

It was already a somewhat unspoken belief that Echo would make its presence felt over the next year or two, but the fact that it is set to start filming so soon is a pleasant surprise. With that in mind, we could see the show debut on Disney Plus within the next year.

Cox was praised as one of Hawkeye‘s standout performers and her supporting role in the show quickly made her upcoming spin-off one of the MCU’s most anticipated offerings.

With rumors about the potential returns of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin continuing to make their way around the internet, and now Alaqua Cox’s confirmation that production is beginning, all eyes will be looking out for Echo updates in the days, weeks and months ahead.
