May bank holiday 2022 opening times for B&Q, Wickes, Argos, Screwfix and more

The May bank holiday is quickly approaching and what better time to get on with all those odd jobs you’ve been putting off doing around the house since Christmas?

The early May bank holiday falls on May 2 this year, with the late May bank holiday being moved to June 2 to create a four day weekend for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

A long weekend offers a perfect chance to do some home renovations, but DIY stores are likely to have differing operating hours.

To make sure you don’t get caught out by reduced bank holiday hours we’ve created a roundup of the opening times for your favourite DIY stores.

B&Q

B&Q tends to operate during their regular opening hours on a bank holiday and this doesn’t look set to change for the upcoming May Bank holiday.

This means that DIY shoppers can head to B&M between the hours of 8am to 8pm on bank holiday Monday, although hours may vary from store to store.

Wickes

Wickes will also be open as usual for the May bank holiday. Standard store opening times are 7am to 7pm.

Argos

Most Argos stores will be open during their regular hours this May bank holiday.

Opening hours vary from store to store, most stores are open from 9am to 8pm but you should check the regular hours of your local store before making the journey by using Argos’ Find a Store tool.

Screwfix

All Screwfix stores are open as normal on bank holidays.

Stores are open 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday, but local restrictions apply.

Most Homebase stores will be open from 8am to 8pm on bank holiday Monday.

However, like with many other shops timings may vary from store to store. Find your local Homebase on their website, and check the specific opening times.

Wilko

Wilko stores will be operating on normal hours, but these hours do vary between stores.

Most stores will be open between the hours of 9am to 7pm but some stores will open earlier and others may close later.
