Turkey becomes latest holiday hotspot to scrap all Covid travel rules for Brits

Turkey has scrapped all Covid travel rules in a much-needed holidays boost for Brits this summer.

The holiday hotspot joins an existing list of 30+ countries without Covid restrictions for visitors, including the likes of Cyprus, Croatia and Greece.

UK holidaymakers heading on Turkey holidays will no longer be required to show a negative Covid test or proof of vaccination if they’re planning to visit for tourism.

Meanwhile, local restrictions have also been lifted including face masks, which are no longer required either indoors or outdoors, provided there can be social distancing in place.

The lifting of both the travel rules and local restrictions has already come into force, meaning you won’t need tests or proof of vaccine if you have a holiday booked, even before the peak summer season.

The Foreign Office has subsequently changed its travel advice for Turkey to reflect the changes, although it does note that “COVID-19 entry requirements may change at short notice, you should check the specifics with your airline before you travel”.

In more good news for Brits planning getaways, Turkey has been named as one of the best value destinations for UK holidaymakers this summer.

A comparison from the Post Office looked at the Sterling’s rise/fall against popular holiday hotspots, comparing May 2022 and May 2021.

According to the study, Brits changing £500 can expect to receive over 50 per cent more in Turkish lira – the equivalent of almost £167 extra – for their pounds.

It’s therefore no surprise that 88% of holidaymakers surveyed for the study felt Turkey offers good value.

In fact, earlier this year Marmaris was hailed as the best destination where Brits can get more bang for their buck, with prices down by 37% year-on-year.

The destination has already long been a firm favourite for family holidays thanks to its plethora of brilliant beaches, water parks and family-friendly resorts.
